Stay Fresh | My New Portfolio

So, one of my goals towards the end of 2011 was to freshen up my portfolio, and as designers & creatives alike will know, this is not an easy task. This time I spent a bit of time developing my new ‘look’, and how I wanted it to work, rather than rushing away and then ending up with something you’re not 100% happy on.

I wanted a logo that I can translate & change up when I feel like it, and I also wanted it to reflect me a bit better. I used my handwriting for the main type, and placed one of my images into the text. I’ve always been a fan of using my photos in my design work, so whenever I get sick of the pink & orange combo, all I have to do is change the photo. Voila!

I’ve also introduced a few of my own quotes/sayings, which I’ll use on my business cards & on my email signatures etc. Above is my own personal manifesto that I have created too. I’ve become pretty fond of the idea of having my own manifesto, a set of rules for my own life, the way I want to live. It doesn’t really have an overall theme, it’s just a combination of quotes that I love.

This defiantly reflects me as a person more than other identities I’ve had, which I can put down to spending a lot of time developing it! This is my biggest suggestion to designers doing work on their own personal branding. SPEND TIME ON IT! Don’t even get on the computer until you’ve filled up a good few pages of words/sketches & ideas representing you. Make it yours. Who cares what everyone else is doing! If you’re branding reflects your personality, and who YOU are, then you’ll be golden.

I’ve got a few more things to come as I develop it and get one or two things printed, so I’ll post those babies too.

>> Check out my new web portfolio right here! I’m working on a few new projects at the moment too, so I’ll be updating it a lot more regularly.
